General description
It(he,she) crosses a sector of ignimbritas traquítico-riolíticas, you wash, gaps and sediments tobáceos of the first cycle magmático, with sobreposiciones of gaps Roque Nublo that they form vast interfluvios in plate (Farmhouse of High Sheepfold, on the West, and Loin of The Palm, eastwards). In the last sector, already in the divide of Chira's ravines and The Byline, they abound fonolitas ignimbríticas in the phase extracaldera.
They predominate over the destructive processes of the relief of the Paleocanaria, with abrupt forms that delimit the head-board of Arguineguín's ravine, the plates of the Cave of Girls and of the Loin of The Palm and the divide of the Big Cross. The way crosses the head-boards of the most important southern ravines, those of Soria and Chira, which form the hung head-board of Arguineguín's ravine. Both valleys, of cross profile in dug-out, pass parallel separated by the Loin of The palm, which indicates the filling of the former valley mioceno excavated between(among) the Ayagaures's former ramp and Ojeda-Inagua-Pajonales's clump.
Though it(he,she) takes part of the climatic features of the southern half of the Island, in this zone the major(bigger) rainfalls take place(are produced), between(among) 400 and 500 mm. They are irregular, of great intensity, and are in the habit of falling down in the shape of violent storms: because of it there was decided to concentrate here the construction of reservoirs(damming), which was possible thanks to the rocky impermeable substratum.
These places were occupied by extensive pinegroves, of which still(yet) notable manifestations stay. Today, these come in the main from the repopulations effected(carried out) from the decade of the sixties, which affected the southern skirt of Pajonales's clump and the divide between(among) Chira and Ayagaures. In the average sections it(he) is typical the open bushes of brooms, escobones and tabaibas.
In the past, the activities agro-silvo-pastoriles articulated the territory. The fertile valleys were occupied by cultures(culturing) of irrigation for the self-consumption and the supply of the regional market; the hillsides suffered the escalonamiento before the introduction of cereals, and the roughest(harshest) areas were destined to the release of cattles. The payments of Soria arose this way and Enclosure(surrounded) of Spider, linked to Arguineguín and Chira's ravines and to his(its) agricultural utilization: the use of the ways is associated, so(then, since), with the communication of these two population nuclei with close others and with the productive bordering areas.
After the installation in the coastal band of the culture(culturing) tomatero, already in the century XX, 50 were constructed for his(its) irrigation in the years the preys of The Girls and Chira. Years afterwards(later), in 1971, there was done the Reservoir(damming) of Soria, that of major(bigger) capacity(aptitude) of the Island, considering also the favorable expectations of the beginning of the tourism in the South. The preys provoked a radical transformation of the landscape, with the despoblamiento of the interior in benefit of the littoral, of major(bigger) economic strength thanks to the tourism and the agriculture of exportation.
The new socioeconomic structure had, between(among) other consequences, her(it) of spreading the culture of the leisure between(among) the inhabitants of the Island and her(it) of reinforcing the demand(lawsuit) of spaces of scattering and of contact with the natural way. This way, the most relevant reservoirs(damming) transformed in tourist claim for his(its, her) inhabitants and the tourists, who, though they lodge generally on the southern coast, also sit the desire to know the insular way and penetrate in the interior. The former rural payments begin to develop then, close to the traditional agrarian, different activities new, related to the visitors' occasional arrival.
